Cathy was ready for another "team member" in summer, 2002, so Dean started making phone calls. Fortunately Ben Martin (of Royal Kennels) and Leaman Ames opted to let this nice young dog go, for which Cathy is very appreciative. Tai ran a few puppy stakes in fall, 2002, spent the winter training with Gary Breitbarth of G&D Kennels (thanks, Gary!), and ran a few more puppy stakes in spring, 2003. Tai got his feet wet in the Amateur All-age in fall, 2003, and capped the regular season with his first placement, a win at East Central Iowa ESSC. Needless to say, Cathy was thrilled!
Tai won the fall 2005 ESSC of the Central States trial to complete his AFC
(Cathy's first field champion!). He had a successful 2005 Spring season,
finishing all 4 Open stakes we entered with a 3rd at the Illinois trial and 4th
place at Stillwater. He also earned a UKC Upland Hunter title in February.
